In a report from the IEA, it was stated that renewables will account for 95% of the increase in global power-generation capacity from 2021 to the end of 2026. This goes to show that there are many career opportunities available in the renewable energy sector. 

  • HVAC Technician

As a HVAC (Heating and Ventilation) engineer, you will work on the installation and servicing of heating and ventilation systems. Your role will usually be based in large areas such as schools or factories. 

One of the main responsibilities of this role is to install renewable energy systems for these properties. If you'd like to find a job as a HVAC engineer, you will need knowledge of plumbing, heating, construction and electrical work. 

While the skill set may be high for this job, the pay range very clearly reflects this! The average annual salary for a HVAC engineer is £38,739, potentially rising to £45,000 with experience. 

  • Energy Engineer

As an energy engineer, you will be working on the research, design, maintenance and construction of plants for power generation. If you have an interest in geology and physics, then this will be an incredible career for you to go into.

Part of your job role will also involve using your knowledge of energy sources to oversee production programmes and choose the most suitable sites for power plants.

The average salary for an energy engineer in the UK is £41,184
