Course Overview

Even experienced carpenters need to achieve certain qualifications before they are permitted to work on-site. If you are looking to carry out professional site carpentry work, you will first need to earn an NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Carpentry.

This qualification usually takes a long time to earn, and many carpenters struggle to squeeze in the necessary work and documentation. However, with the help of Access Training Academies, you can get qualified within a relatively short timeframe. Our experienced assessors will help you to compile and submit a portfolio containing:
  • Photographs of your carpentry work
  • Witness testimonies
  • Storyboards/factual accounts of the jobs you complete
If you need to earn your NVQ as soon as possible, Access Training’s NVQ carpentry course is the perfect choice. Contact us now to enrol, or read on to find out more about how we can help you to get qualified.

Who is this qualification for?

The NVQ level 2 in carpentry is a requirement for all site carpenters. If you are an experienced carpenter looking to carry out professional work on-site, our NVQ carpentry course will help you to gain the requisite qualifications and commence work within a relatively short period of time.

If you are an inexperienced candidate looking to take the first steps towards a lucrative career in carpentry, we recommend that you enrol onto one of our entry-level carpentry courses before moving on to more advanced programmes such as this one.

What qualification will I receive?

Candidates who successfully complete a portfolio of evidence will receive the City & Guilds Level 2 NVQ Diploma in carpentry, along with a CSCS card that allows you to prove your qualified status to others when seeking and performing on-site work.

Assessment process

This is the route that you will follow in order to achieve your carpentry NVQ:
  1. Interview– You will meet with us so that we can get a feel for your current knowledge and experience level and plan your assessment process accordingly. You may need to undertake the level 2 diploma prior to this depending on your previous experience and qualifications. We will give you guidance on this.
  2. Formal Induction– This can be carried out online or in person, and will introduce you to the NVQ carpentry course and the portfolio that you’ll need to complete.
  3. Progress Meetings– Once you have begun the process of compiling your portfolio, you will meet with your Access Training assessor on a regular basis. Your assessor will review your progress and assess the evidence you have gathered to date.
  4. Final Submission– Once your portfolio is complete, you will submit it for final assessment.
  5. Award– If successful, you will receive the City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Carpentry.
