Course Overview

Are you looking for a new career? If you’d like to trade in your current job for an exciting new role as a self-employed painter and decorator, our Professional Decorating Course is the perfect place to start.

This intensive training programme aims to make it easy for novice decorators to master a wide array of professional painting and decorating techniques. No experience is necessary to enrol – we know how difficult it can be to learn a brand new skill from scratch, but rest assured that this programme was developed specifically with people like you in mind.

Here are some of the skills you’ll learn on this course:
  • Choosing the right type of paint for the job
  • Preparing and painting a variety of surfaces
  • Wallpapering
  • Splicing different papers
  • Hanging borders
  • Varnishing and staining
Our professional decorating course will help you to become a qualified painter and decorator, setting you up for paid work as well as for more advanced qualifications.

Who can enrol?

Anyone and everyone. Though our professional decorating course does cover some fairly advanced ground, the whole training experience has been constructed to help individuals of any skill/experience level to reach the level that will be expected of them upon turning professional.

Furthermore, this course is open to people of all genders, races and nationalities – no matter who you are or what kind of background you come from, we at Access Training Academies would be more than happy to have you.

Once you have successfully completed our professional painting and decorating course, you will be awarded the City & Guilds 6219 Level 1 Certificate, marking you out as a qualified painter and decorator who is ready to start a career in this trade. In addition to preparing you for your new career, this qualification will also help you to progress onto more advanced courses if you choose to do so (see What next? below).
