Construction Training. Get Construction Skills Training

The Construction Industry and construction training will continue to experience strong growth, with construction skills training output expected to rise dramatically as we progress through the year. The blueprint published by ConstructionSkills, forecasts that 348,000 more employees will be needed for construction training by the construction industry to meet expected demand - an average of 88,000 construction training new recruits per year. Needles to say over the last few years this figure still hasn’t been met.

Olympic Games projects need construction training graduates
In an industry that already required 88,000 new construction training recruits every year, Construction Sector Skills Council has warned that that it will be vital to get new construction training candidates if the industry is to deliver on all demands. The 33,500 predicted jobs include 24,000 trade and craft roles that will need to be filled by construction skills training graduates, with the London Olympics generating £2.5 billion in construction output over the next seven years which is great news for those thinking of getting into construction training.

Construction training graduates to build new houses - 3 Million New Homes need to be Built
The Government have planned a huge increase in construction training to coincide with the country's house-building programme, stating that 3m new homes would be built by 2020, with the assistance of construction training graduates. The prime minister increased government plans to build 200,000 homes a year, by an extra 40,000 a year by 2016. The promise also ensured that £10bn would be spent on social housing being built over the next three years, which is again great news for those undertaking construction training. There are also ambitious targets to build 75,000 social houses annually by 2010-2011, so with a lack of skilled workers at present, those attending construction training could work on these projects, so getting construction skills training now could lead to an exciting and busy future.

As an example, Keith Mitchell, chairman of the South-East England regional assembly, said: "In the south-east we've already seen a 30% increase in house building over the past five years - but prices are still rising”.

Even at its peak over the past few years, the level of new-build housing was around 168,000 a year. But the shortfall is estimated at 40,000 per year even at it this time, so there is a huge amount more to be built as we come out of the recession.

Former Government Minister Yvette Cooper, acknowledged that the higher targets for house building were necessary just to meet recently published projections showing the need for house building, and therefore construction training, would be higher priority than previously thought. "There is growing demand for housing in this country and supply is just not keeping up and that is why we have to be much more ambitious." So getting construction training could be even more important in the near future.
