In the UK, it is illegal to work on gas appliances unless you are Gas Safe registered. This is to ensure the safety of the public. In this blog we explain how to join the Gas Safe register and how to become Gas Safe registered.

 

How do you become Gas Safe registered?

To join the gas safe register, you must:

  • Complete an appropriate Gas Managed Learning Programme (GML). This is a training course that will teach you the skills and knowledge you need to work with gas safely.
  • Build a portfolio of gas work alongside a registered gas engineer. This will show that you have the practical experience of working with gas.
  • Undertake an ACS Assessment for CCN1 and relevant appliances. This is an exam that will test your knowledge and skills in gas safety.
  • Apply to join the Gas Safe Register.

The process of becoming Gas Safe registered can take some time, however, it is a worthwhile investment to ensure that you are qualified to work with gas safely.
