Master Tiler's NVQ Course

Course overview
Have you considered that after just a few weeks of training you could be in employment or self employed working to the standard of a Professional Tiler? This tiling programme has been devised to train and qualify you to these high standards.

It features the Level 2 Diploma in Wall and Floor Tiling, which will build up your skills ready to create a professional portfolio of your work for the NVQ assessment. From here you will find yourself qualified and ready to take on a tiling career in the construction industry.

Training takes place in a state-of-the-art centre designed to reflect real life scenarios you’ll find in the workplace, and you will be taught by professionals who each have a number of years’ experience in the tiling industry.
Who is this qualification for?
Our Master Tilers course is the only courses for those looking to become a NVQ Level 2 fully qualified professional tiler.

The course that has been devised differs from any anything else in the UK because we will not only teach you to tile to a professional level, but we will test your tiling knowledge by way of a C&G assessment like no other training company can!

Recommended for anyone wanting to become a professional in this very rewarding trade, the course gives you all the knowledge you require in becoming an expert in wall and floor tiling, using the correct tools, cutting, adhesives and application of tiles.

Much of the course will be hands on, working in training bays applying tiles to walls and floors in kitchen, bathroom and other tiling environments.

  • Principles of building construction, information and communication
Preparing backgrounds for tiling
  • How to interpret information
  • How to select quality and quantity of resources
  • How to minimise the risk of damage
  • Knowing preparation methods for new and existing surfaces
  • Preparing backgrounds for tiling
Forming sand and cement screeds
  • Interpreting information relating to the formation of flat and level surfaces and falls
  • How to select materials, accessories and equipment
  • How to prepare and lay screeds to levels and falls
Tile wall surfaces
  • How to interpret drawings, schedules and specifications
  • Selecting tools and materials for tiling walls
  • Applying tiles to wall surfaces
Tile floor surfaces
  • How to interpret drawings, schedules and specifications
  • Selecting tools and materials for tiling floors
  • How to install tiles to floor surfaces
  • How to install tiles to stairways and landings
  • How to install tiles to outlets and inlets
City & Guilds 6560-02 Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Wall and Floor Tiling
Students must achieve a minimum of 31 credits. A total of 31 credits must come from the mandatory units. Additional credits may be achieved from elective units available.

Mandatory Units:
  • Conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
  • Conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
  • Moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace
  • Preparing backgrounds to receive wall and/or floor tiling in the workplace
  • Tiling wall and floor surfaces in the workplace
Optional Units:
  • Laying under tile electrical heating systems and tiling surfaces in the workplace
  • Slinging and signalling the movement of loads (secondary role) in the workplace
  • Complying with the given contract information to the required specification
