The course includes Estimating, planning and calculating areas against material requirements,learning how to cut slate using the guillotine and the disc cutter, how to felt and baton to hips, slating and tiling to hips and valleys, installing uPVC fascias with uPVC capping soffits including ventilation soffits plus much more.

In summary, this 10-day intensive course has been specifically designed for people wishing to build roofs and is designed for a complete beginner. We will teach you the practical skills required to carry out the construction of the roof after the joists and trusses have been installed successfully and effectively. There is also a 1-week Roof repair Course for those who just want to learn basic roofing to carry out small repairs to an existing roof. The tutors delivering this course will share with you their knowledge from many years experience so you can learn the necessary skills to make sure you can use your roofing skills effectively. All candidates can receive a certificate to confirm their completion of the course if they so wish. • Slate replacement.
• Basic tiling.

• Lead work on aprons, cloaking and step flashing.
• Constructing lead valleys and GRP valleys.
• Cement work to verges.
• Cement work to ridges.
• Learning how to cut slate using the guillotine and the disc cutter.
• Concrete tile cutting.
• Learning how to felt and baton to hips.
• Slating and tiling to hips and valleys.
• Dry verges and cladding of fascias.
• Installing uPVC fascias with uPVC capping.
• Installing uPVC soffits including ventilation soffits

Guided Learning: 10 days After this course some students also undertake other short courses to build on their knowledge and others decide to go on and complete a full qualification in other areas and go further with their training.
