DIY and Home Improvement Plastering Training Course

This is a 5 day course designed for anyone who needs to know how to do small plastering jobs, for anyone who wants the skills to undertake basic plastering DIY jobs around the home or even as a foundation course for those who would are thinking of become a plasterer and may consider further training at a later date. This course is open to anyone. It is designed for adults who want to undertake small jobs around their home, but do not have the knowledge, experience or confidence to carry this out. You can perform many plastering tasks around the home yourself, (see list below) and make those home improvements that you didn’t think you could. The tutors delivering this course will share with you their knowledge from many years experience so you can learn the necessary skills to take on these jobs safely and correctly and to the right standard. All candidates will receive a certificate to confirm their attendance upon ompletion of the course. It is also an option for individuals to sit an examination covering the aspects they have covered on the course, even though this course is non-accredited. This can be provided for delegates as an optional examination that can help those students who intend to progress onto other courses. However, delegates will receive a certificate accredited by Access Training. However, you will be working with one of our tutors in your own training areas and will receive training in the following skills during the standard 5 day course: (ATW Certificate, any of the following aspects can be covered on the course)

• How to fix and cut plasterboard to both walls and ceilings.
• How to tape standard and internal joints.
• How to cut and fix angle beads around windows and reveals.
• How to prepare surfaces for plastering using bonding plaster and finishing plaster, and how to ensure a flat finished surface ready for final decorating.
• How to mix plastering materials.
• How to skim both walls and ceilings
• How to apply PVA adhesive Unibond to surfaces.
• How to use sand and cement to render external walls.

Guided Learning: 5 days After this course some students also undertake other short courses to build on their knowledge and others decide to go on and complete a full qualification and go further with their training. If this is the case for you when you attend your short DIY course then we recommend that completing different areas as a package as this ensures that the student has practical experience as well as theoretical knowledge of work. This provides students who successfully complete their courses with a good grounding and the ability to carry out work in their homes both safely and to a standard that the student is happy with. (ATW Certificate if required in any of the following aspects which can be covered on these courses)
