  • Flexibility - Our gas training courses fit around your circumstances and your goals. We work out when is best for you to attend and what you want to achieve and we will tailor the gas engineer training around you.
  • Accreditation - Our gas training courses are fully accredited, meaning you get the qualifications needed in order to become a professional gas engineer.

  • State of the Art facilities – Our purpose built training centre has all you need to learn quickly and properly.
Most of our students are looking for a career change and want to train to be a Gas Engineer. Almost all understandably do not want to give up work to attend their gas training course, some potential students work unusual shift patterns and think that gas engineer training will therefore be difficult, others have been unfortunate and suffered redundancy and want to train immediately and get Gas Safe qualified (previously Corgi qualified) as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, if your circumstances are similar to these then your local college will not be able to cater for your needs as they have set term times and it can take you up to two years to complete a gas training course (that’s if you don’t miss any of the classes over the two years).

However, enrolling on a gas training course at Access Training provides you with the flexibility you need. We cater for our student’s individual needs as our accredited gas engineer training courses are designed to fit around whatever your personal circumstance, put simply, you tell us when you would like to attend and we will structure the course around you. This is so you get the best, completely focussed gas training possible through virtually one to one tuition with one of our experienced and highly qualified gas training tutors, taught at our purpose built state of the art training facilities.

How do I train to become a Gas Engineer and how do I choose the right gas training course for me?
If you are considering a gas engineer training course for changing your career, looking to get gas qualified or you are just concerned that you are a late starter when it comes to gas training, making a decision about which route take when it comes to getting gas training and qualified as a Gas Engineer can be daunting as you don't know where to go for real advice or who to turn to for a point in the right direction.

The first places people usually start for gas engineer training are local colleges, but they are normally busy and are not able to give the flexibility for people waning gas training when it comes to adult learners. Their gas engineer training courses are unnecessarily long, poorly resourced and have very few start dates during the year. Similarly, many private gas training providers confuse potential candidates by presenting them with the most expensive gas training course they run and people are put off joining the lucrative Gas Engineer trade all together.

The good news is however, that at Access Training we guarantee that every adult learner will get the information they need and the correct gas training course recommendation for them, their individual circumstances and skills. This enables them to make an informed decision about joining the Gas industry.

Flexible gas training courses for all stages of your plumbing and gas career

For many years there has been a lack of skilled Gas Engineers entering the gas industry as the country relied heavily upon the traditional route of apprenticeships. Unfortunately, apprenticeships failed as smaller and smaller numbers of people are prepared to train for many years whilst supporting themselves and their families on very small pay packets. The new and most successful way to enter the industry is to attend a flexible, focussed gas engineer training course, attended at state-of-the-art facilities that allows adults to combine their exiting work and family arrangements whist training for a new career as Gas Engineer.

We are dedicated to helping and training mature learners as we have found that employers prefer to employ our trainees as they often turn out to be better employees as they are more focussed and more dedicated than an apprentice who is more likely not to complete his or her training in the first place.

The right gas training course depends on your background and your circumstances. Leave your details or give us a call and we’ll tell you more. Alternatively read on below to find out what you need to start your gas training.
Where do I start with my career in gas and how do I start gas training?
Ultimately you will need to achieve an ACS Gas qualification (Accredited Certification Scheme) to be regarded as ‘fully qualified’ but to start with you will need to get gas engineer training to gain what the industry calls, ‘underpinning knowledge’. This can be achieved by attending one of our gas training courses or Gas Engineer training courses. After you have gained the in-centre gas training you will have skills to be assessed on how you carry out gas related tasks to achieve your ACS gas qualification.
Why should I choose Access Training for my Gas Training Course?
The aim of all of our gas training courses is to get you qualified with industry standard qualifications and provide you with a skill level and competence which will give you the confidence and belief to work safely and efficiently on gas equipment, systems and home installations after completing your gas engineer training course. We guarantee that you will learn a huge variety of new skills on your gas training course, teach you the ‘tricks of the trade’ and train you to tackle a wide range of gas jobs, from repairing a gas fire or cooker to installing a new gas boiler. You will be given the gas training and gas qualifications you need to get into the industry and develop a successful and secure career.

By attending a gas engineer training course with us you can be reaping the benefits of a career in the gas industry by getting the professional gas qualifications you need, including NICEIC professional qualifications. Traditionally you would need to wait 2 or 3 years to start your gas career by enrolling on a lengthily and inflexible college gas training course. However, we can cater for your individual needs and get you qualified and trained in shorter and more focussed period of time on our bespoke gas engineer training courses. At Access Training, we consider ourselves to be a company that allows the student to progress through our gas training centre at a pace that is dictated by the student and not us. We offer every student the opportunity to advance in whichever direction they choose to take. If you decide that you want to attend a short gas training course and then decide at a later date that you you’re ready to progress onto gaining professional level career qualifications then we can manage your gas training and offer you the advice and support you will need through every step.
What do the gas training courses consist of?
The gas engineer training courses consist of 4 main elements designed to maximise your gas training experience:

1. Small class sizes of a maximum of 8 on our gas training courses ensure you get the greatest amount of tuition time possible.
2. Comprehensive gas training coursework to complete in the comfort of your own home with regular assignments with 24 hour online or over the phone student support for any questions you have.
3. Attend your gas training when you wish to attend the practical part of your studies.
4. Sit gas training exams and take practical tests at the gas training centre to gain Industry Standard gas qualifications.
Are the gas training courses hands-on and practical?
Unlike a lot of companies, we do not teach home study gas training courses for you to become a Gas Engineer by learning everything at home then attending test days at a gas training centre, this simply does not work. Our gas training courses are a carefully designed method of giving students the ability to learn and gain the vital skills and job knowledge necessary to become a fully qualified Gas Engineer in the gas industry. What we always emphasise to all our potential students on our gas training courses is that they will be spending more time in our training centre learning practical skills than a typical mature student studying at a local college or even on an apprenticeship gas training course.

Of the students that have sought our advice at Access Training regarding gas training, the vast majority of gas engineer training graduates have gone on to establish profitable new careers in the construction industry using the gas engineer training and guidance they’ve received. We can even get you set up and ready to start your own business through our Business Start-up training should you choose to do so. We provide help and support long after you have completed your gas engineer training course and with many students attending further training further down the line to increase their earning potential even further.

So why choose a gas engineer training course and a career as a Gas Engineer?
There are various reasons for choosing to attend gas engineer training:
  • There still remains a shortage of qualified Gas Engineers across the country (have you tried to call a Gas Engineer lately? They always seem to be busy!)
  • Because of this high demand the levels of pay are high compared to many other sectors.
  • You get to work for yourself following your gas training so you have the choice of the hours you want to work. Especially if you have family commitments as you have the flexibility you need.
  • Become your own boss and grow your own business after gas training.
  • Gain the status of a professionally qualified Gas Safe Engineer after completing gas engineer training.
  • Its a job that everybody wants, you will set yourself apart from the rest by becoming a qualified Gas Engineer.
  • It is one of the few ‘jobs for life’ that are left. Once you finish your gas course and get qualified nobody can ever take it away from you, it is a skill and qualification you will have for the rest of your life.
  • You will get a complete sense of job satisfaction that comes with completing your gas course and the practical work of this kind. Gas Engineers are rated as some of the happiest professional people in their work.
Does attending a gas engineer training course lead to job security?
It goes without saying that in difficult economic times above all, most people want job security and to be in a job that is as recession proof as is possible. Evidence suggests that whist nearly every industry takes a downturn in fortunes at a time like this, the Gas Engineer trade appears to be as recession-proof as any other sector.

Over the past couple of years graduates of our gas engineer training courses have gone on to gain stable employment or built rewarding business as independent Gas Engineers for themselves, and as we emerge from the downturn we fully expect this to continue and for the gas industry to grow strongly.

It is worth noting that as an example, the average age of a Gas Engineer in this county is increasing, so there are vast numbers of qualified people approaching retirement very soon.
Who are these gas training courses for?
These gas training courses are ideal for people wishing to change career, new entrants and trades people from other sectors who want to gain work or self employment in the gas industry.
What work can I typically do after completing my gas training, following the Professional Gas Engineer Training Course as an example?
After completing your gas engineer training you will be able to safely install, test and inspect the full range of domestic gas appliances, including:
  • Working with copper pipe and gas fittings.
  • Working with domestic gas appliances.
  • Repairing and maintaining gas boilers.
  • Decommissioning and installing gas boilers.
  • Installing and redirecting gas pipes.
  • Installing and connecting gas fires.
  • Installing and connecting gas cookers.
  • Installing heating systems.
  • Exchange or replacing boilers.
  • Progress onto becoming GAS SAFE (previously CORGI) Gas Heating Engineer.
Rest assured you will have the right level of gas training, the best qualifications available and the experience to work in the trade as a Gas Engineer.
What if I have no experience of gas and I’m not used to studying?
Don’t worry, Access Training gas training courses are aimed at people with little or no Gas Engineer experience and aged between 17 and 70! Whether you have never picked up a spanner or alternatively have worked on heating systems in the past, the gas training programmes are tailored to fit around your trade experience and learning speed.
What if I want to schedule my gas training course around my current job?
Access Training deliver their gas training courses in a flexible way so that you are in complete control of the speed at which you study and complete your gas training course. Most students have both family and work commitments so they are able to fit their gas training course around them. This method works well for students as they do not have to give up their job until they have the confidence and skills to move into the gas industry.
Do I need to study during my gas training?
You can do the small amount of theory at home when you have time, maybe in the evenings or at weekends, and you may decide to take some time off work to fit in the practical gas training sessions. The practical gas training sessions are broken down into a number of weeklong blocks, which will be spent at one of our gas training centres.
What will I be doing during the practical gas training sessions?
At the practical gas training sessions you will put into practice what you have been studying in the theory and actually see the end result of your hard work. As most previous students of gas engineer training courses will tell you, the learning curve is steep and you will be very surprised how much you learn in a short space of time. As mentioned before, the gas training courses take the blended learning approach to your development. This is a mix of theory that you do at home in your own time and practical hands-on gas training that you do at one of our training facilities. You can book your practical gas training sessions when it suits your schedule, you tell us when you would like to attend.
What will I be able earn after I have completed my gas engineer training?
What you will earn depends on how successful you are after completing your gas training course, how good the work is that you carry out and your reputation, you become a respected gas engineer professional with a lifetime skill in long term demand with job security in an apparently recession-resistant industry, predicted earnings in excess of £40,000 with some experience after gas training, and valuable qualifications recognised worldwide. Also it is worth noting that if you plan to use your skills gas engineer training to become a Property or Housing Manager, then the highest salaries are predicted to be £1,357 a week which equates to £70,576 a year. And remember Gas Engineers are more likely to earn more than professional plumbers…

“self employed plumbers can charge £90 per hour plus VAT…some make £100,000 a year”
- The Sunday Times, 22nd February 2004
What gas training do I need to become GAS SAFE registered (previously CORGI registered)?
Please contact us and we’ll give you all the details about Gas Engineer Training and get our free advice on how to succeed and achieve GASE SAFE registration, or CORGI certification as it was previously known.
Are the Gas Tutors delivering gas training qualified and experienced?
Our Gas Tutors have a vast amount of experience and gas qualifications for delivering quality gas training, having spent many years working within the gas industry. There is very little that isn’t known about the Gas Engineer trade between all of our tutors and they are only too keen to impart their knowledge of a subject they have practiced for literally decades. They have continually developed gas training and added to all of our gas engineer training courses and designed them so as much realism as is possible is included, we have found that this approach has developed our gas training in way that has improved the quality of the work the student produces and has increased the pass rates.

The realism may also include teaching students about cleanliness and estimating the materials and time required to plan and complete each task on the gas training course. This teaching can be beneficial for those students looking to set up their own business, as estimating is a fundamental part of being able gain work from customers and cleanliness is a major factor in earning a good reputation.
Do I need to bring anything myself to attend the gas training?
No, you will only need appropriate clothing and footwear for gas engineer training in a practical environment. More detail will be provided when you enrol on the course. We supply all materials for your gas engineer training; gas training books, tools and the raw materials you will work with such as fittings. We do not ration the amount of material available to you, unlike other companies who give a certain amount to work with, we give the materials you need and require for getting the most out of your gas training course.

The tools we will provide for your gas training are of industry standard and are not cheap imitations; the tools you will train with will be the tools that you will buy when you begin your career as a Gas Engineer. Do not be fooled by companies tempting you with tools as part of their course fee. They are often cheap imitations of what you need to have and you will only end up replacing them by buying them yourself after the course. The quality of the gas training you are attending is the most important factor when choosing where to go.
