The course itself is specifically designed to prepare delegates for both their written examination and their practical assessment that determines the candidates’ success on the course. It is designed for experienced practicing electricians and electrical professionals to be able to carry out the installation of solar PV systems in domestic environments.

The NICEIC Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Certificate is a nationally recognized and accredited award that can be used for obtaining MCS scheme certification and is more generally used as a form of evidence that the individual has the technical and practical ability to install and commission Solar PV systems. The course specifically teaches the underpinning knowledge and high skill level required to install typical, commercially available photovoltaic installations and covers other vital areas including relevant Building regulations that must be adhered to, MCS certification requirements and operating practices akin to installing solar PV systems.
Who is this Electrical qualification for?
The NICEIC Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Certificate, is a high level electrical course and therefore it is assumed that you already a level of competence in electrical installation. It is suited to those who want to able to carry Solar PV system installations on domestic premises. However, if you do not already hold your Part P Domestic Installer Certificate (Part P) or are not familiar with the processes it is recommended that you consider attending our Part P course, as this course provides the ideal foundation that is recommended by NICEIC.

We therefore thoroughly recommend that anyone interested in attending this course holds a relevant qualification, please call for details of the requirements. We suggest that at the very minimum you hold a City & Guilds 17th Edition certificate as this electrical course is designed to offer specific, related skills to electricians who understand electrical terminology and to ensure they are conversant with Regulations needed to install Solar PV systems.

Electrical course progress routes
After this course most students undertake the City & Guilds 2391-20: Certificate in the Design, Erection and Verification of Electrical Installations, to go further with their training. If this is the case than we recommend completing both courses as a complete package.
