Inspection, Testing & Management of Electrical Equipment (Complete Portable Appliance Testing) PAT Testing Course

(City & Guilds 2377-12 Inspection & Testing of Electrical Equipment & the City & Guilds 2377-11 Management of electrical equipment maintenance)
Course overview
This course combines both the inspection and testing aspect of PAT Testing (City & Guilds 2377-12 Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment Certificate) and the management of PAT Testing (City & Guilds 2377-11 Management of electrical equipment maintenance). These certificates are regarded as the combined ‘must have’ qualifications as they allow you to test appliances and schedule when this needs to be carried out, plus it also covers how you generally administer asset registers. You will also be able to carry out both visual inspections and carry out testing on other instruments.

The need to gain both these qualifications is due to The Electricity at Work Regulations Act, 1989 that states that “as may be necessary to prevent danger, all systems shall be maintained so as to prevent, so far as is reasonably practicable, such danger”. Essentially, this three day course is the complete package that covers everything you need to know about PAT Testing, how to manage an asset register and how this is carried out. It will also cover current legislation including the exacting standards required legally.

This course can be broken down into two parts, however, we would strongly recommend that both qualifications are gained as you will be able to cover the complete scope of work available for PAT testing. This is because these qualifications combined, give you the ability to manage the PAT testing of appliances for an organisation as well as being able to simply carry out the PAT testing which can be both lucrative and allows you to expand your business and scope of work.

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT testing) has, for some time now, been considered to be an integral part of the requirements for any commercial organisation and is designed to ensure the correct management for the protection of users from the dangers of electrical appliances.
Who is this qualification for?
There are no pre entry requirements to attend this course. You do not need to have any prior knowledge of electrical theory and principles or the understanding of electrical terminologies.

It is also suitable for anyone who is involved in electrical installations, whether they are involved in the domestic, industrial or commercial electrical installation industry. This course is designed for anyone including practicing Electrical Installers, Building Maintenance Personnel, Fire Alarm Installers and anyone else who has the desire to learn the hands-on, practical skills to be able to work carry out PAT Testing.
You will gain the highest standard of achievement
All candidates will undertake two exams, the first consisting of 45 multiple choice questions and the second consisting of 30. The exams are “Open Book” and are carried out at one of our assessment centres using the computer based City & Guilds GOLA system, with all candidates being given their results directly at the end of the examination.
