Weekend DIY & Home Improvement Electrical Training Course
(ATW Certificate)
Course overview
This weekend course is designed for someone who has no knowledge or qualifications in electrical installation but wants to work safely on the electrics found in the home. Normally you would need to have your Part P building regulations, but here are areas that you can work on legally and safely that can help to improve and maintain your home or a property you are thinking of improving and selling on. There are many jobs where there is no need to call an experienced professional, we will show you on this course what you can do both legally and safely with the current Part P of the Building Regulations.
Who is this qualification for?
This course is for anyone. It is designed for adults who want to undertake electrical DIY jobs around their home, but do not have the knowledge, experience or confidence to work safely, with current Part P Building Regulations. It isn’t common knowledge, but you can perform many electrical tasks around the home yourself, (see list below) and make those home improvements that you didn’t think you could. The tutors delivering this course will share with you their knowledge from many years experience so you can learn the necessary skills to take on these jobs safely and correctly.
You will gain the highest standard of achievement
All candidates will receive a certificate to conform their attendance and completion of the course. It is also an option for individuals to sit an examination covering the aspects they have covered on the course, even though this course is non-accredited. This can be provided for delegates as an optional examination that can help those students who intend to progress onto other courses. However, delegates will receive a certificate accredited by Access Training.

Progress routes
After this course some students decide to go further and undertake the EAL Part P Domestic Installers qualification and go on to qualify to install new domestic installations. We recommend that completing both these courses as a complete package ensures that the student has the practical experience as well as theoretical knowledge of electrical work. This provides students who successfully complete both courses with a good grounding and the ability to carry our domestic installations safely and within the regulations.
Our electrical courses provide a clear progression route, helping learners to achieve the career goals they aspire to. Successful candidates can progress to higher level work and progress onto the City & Guilds Inspection & Testing (Level 3) which provides candidates with a route to becoming certified to test and inspect other people’s existing electrical installations and issue safety certificates, to a landlord for example.
