DIY & Home Improvement Kitchen Fitting Training Course

(ATW Certificate if required)
Course overview
This course is tailored for the absolute novice, DIY enthusiast or property developer who would like to learn how to design and fit a kitchen.

You will also learn how to plan, project manage and install your own kitchen at a fraction of the price charged by a third party installer. The course includes a design session which will cover the basic ‘triangle concept’ i.e. designing your kitchen layout to provide the best economic use of the main work centres and looks at different ways a kitchen can be laid out for different shaped and sized rooms.

In summary, this 5-day course has been specifically designed for you if you are a complete beginner. We will teach you the practical skills required to carry out an installation successfully and effectively, so if you have a project in mind or would just like to know how to do it, just get in touch and we will give you all the details.
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for anyone. It is designed for adults who want to undertake a kitchen installation themselves, but do not have the knowledge, experience or confidence to carry this out. You will be able to achieve skills that you didn’t think you could before attending this course. The number of students on each course is just six guaranteeing a high level of personal attention from our experienced trainers.

There is also a 1-week Tiling Course which covers Tiling techniques for kitchens including splash backs and floors. The tutors delivering this course will share with you their knowledge from many years experience so you can learn the necessary skills to make sure you can install a kitchen and then tile leaving you with a completed job.

All candidates can receive a certificate to confirm their completion of the course if they so wish. Rest assured, this training course along with every other that we run, conforms to the very highest standards of training and will give you a skill level that you will value for years to come.
Areas covered

  • How to measure and mark up accurately
  • How to set out, fix and level all the units
  • How to cut different types of worktops for sinks and hobs
  • How to install sinks, taps and hobs
  • How to cut butt and scribe joints in worktops
  • How to fit end panels
  • How to use a router and jig
  • How to install kitchen appliances
  • How to finish the kitchen properly i.e. fitting handles, adjusting doors etc

Progress routes
After this course some students also undertake other short courses to build on their knowledge and others decide to go on and complete a full qualification in other areas and go further with their training. If this is the case for you when you attend your short DIY course then we recommend that completing different areas as a package as this ensures that the student has practical experience as well as theoretical knowledge of work. This provides students who successfully complete their courses with a good grounding and the ability to carry out work in their homes both safely and to a standard that the student is happy with.
