2 Day Intensive Block & Brickwork Refresher Course

(ATW Certificate if required)
Course overview
We have found that there are a number of people who want a couple of days to refresh their skills to bring their previously acquired bricklaying abilities up to speed. If you have previously had experience of bricklaying and feel that your skills maybe a little rusty through lack of use or you have previously held a bricklaying qualification and simply want to brush up your skills before going back out on site then this course is designed for you.

The course can be bespoke designed so that you can experiment and build using different exercises in the centre that are designed to improve your speed of laying bricks and brush up your techniques, plus we will teach you the latest regulations should you need to.

You can cover or brush up on any of the following areas, as examples:
  • Improve your speed laying brick and block
  • Polish up your 100mm & 225mm walling techniques
  • English Bond brickwork
  • English Garden brickwork
  • Wall bond
  • Copings
  • Forming Pillar Caps
  • Producing Soldier and Header courses
  • Cavity Wall construction in block and brick work
  • Inserting Lintels
  • Forming Door and Window Reveals
  • Inserting Damp Proof Course (DPC)
Who is this qualification for?
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. It is intended for those who will or have previously worked within bricklaying contracting companies or who have the need to be site ready for upcoming work. We have designed this course so that it caters for all, whatever their back ground and previous experience.

What this course will do above all, is allow all course participants the freedom to polish their skills and knowledge to produce the professional finish that they are happy with. This is bricklaying course which has been designed for anyone with previous experience who wants to use our faculties to hone their skills.
Progress routes
It is recommended that after completing this bricklaying course candidates go on and achieve the highest possible award, the NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying. The next step for anyone wishing to progress is to consider adding this to their portfolio as you will need the NVQ Level 2 to gain lucrative site based work.

Undertaking the bricklaying NVQ2 would be an ideal step as it ensures that you will have the practical experience as well as theoretical knowledge of the bricklaying discipline. This provides students who successfully complete the course with a good grounding for a long and prosperous career in the bricklaying sector.
